Circadian rhythm disturbances in psychiatric disorders are studied using skin cells from bipolar and schizophrenic patients. Using molecular imaging in transgenic mice, we investigate i) effect of psychopharmacological drugs on clock gene expression, ii) psychosocial stress and molecular rhythms, iii) stress-tolerance at certain times of the day.
We recently developed an “organic electronic ion pump” to precisely deliver neuro-stimulatory substances mimicking a nerve cell.
